"Briefings are the ideal moment for the flight crew to set the tone and the expectations for a flight. It is also the opportunity to advocate open two-way communication between the cabin and the flight crew. Joint crew briefings assist in creating a working environment that is more conducive to a safe operation"


TYPES OF OPERATIONAL BRIEFING

  • DEPARTURE BRIEFING during cockpit preparation

  • ARRIVAL BRIEFING during descent preparation



A DEBRIEFING should be considered at the of each flight. This order is to check how the plan and management expected unexpected threats and errors worked, and see if possible to enhance next time in a similar scenario. This briefing should be done no later than the end of flight duty. Debriefing is a powerful tool for long-term safety management.

Preparation for every briefing starts with the preparation for the flight mission. Preparation continues throughout the dispatch flight preparation with the collection of data on all of the following :


  • Technical conditions of the aircraft

  • Route of Planning

  • Weather

  • Notam

  • Load Planning

  • Company Operational Requirements

  • Fuel Planning
